About Chris
I didn't start my musical journey with formal lessons or expensive gear.
Like many musicians, I started by listening, experimenting, and playing in church, learning songs by ear and trying to understand why the music moved people the way it did. That curiosity became a lifelong pursuit of musicianship.
Today, I perform, record, teach, and create educational content for guitarists around the world. Over the years I've had the privilege of working alongside artists including Kim Burrell, Ricky Dillard, Byron Cage, Chevelle Franklyn, Tessanne Chin, Protoje, Chronixx, Romaine Virgo, Richie Spice, and many others as both a touring and studio guitarist. Along the way, I've developed a style rooted in soul, gospel, jazz, R&B, funk, blues, reggae, and contemporary music.
Teaching has always been just as important to me as performing.
I've spent more than a decade helping guitarists of every age and skill level, from complete beginners picking up the instrument for the first time to experienced players looking to break through creative plateaus. My goal has never been to create players who sound like me. It's to help musicians discover their own voice.
My lessons are built around the individual. Every guitarist comes with different goals, strengths, and challenges, so every learning path should reflect that. We'll certainly cover the fundamentals because they're essential, but we'll also focus on the things that make music exciting: feel, phrasing, rhythm, improvisation, tone, creativity, and learning how to actually make music instead of simply memorizing shapes on the fretboard.
Whether you're here through YouTube, Instagram, Patreon, private coaching, or one of my courses, my hope is that you leave each lesson not only knowing something new, but feeling inspired to pick up your guitar again tomorrow.
Music has opened incredible doors in my life.
If I can help it do the same for yours, then I'm grateful you're here.
I look forward to playing with you.
